ABOUT US
Optimist International is comprised of over 2,900 clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Adult volunteers join Optimist clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be.
Optimist Creed
Transmountain Optimist will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.
Although the Transmountain Optimist Club sponsors several programs, our key feature is the Desert Downs Bicycle Moto-Cross (BMX) Track. Desert Downs BMX first opened in April 1977 and was the first BMX track in El Paso. The track is a USABMX sanctioned track and has held several major national races. To join in the racing action, you can check out the Desert Downs page for more information!
Transmountain Optimist Club has had a long time commitment to the Northeast community of El Paso, Texas. This tradition began in the early 1970s and continues today. Transmountain Optimist Club has been involved in many other quality of life programs including the North-Easter Parade, the Child Crisis Center, Partners in Education, the Scholarship Program, Sue Young Park, Red Ribbon Program, and Juvenile Crime Conference Committees.
At the present time, Transmountain Optimist Club is seeking community-minded individuals to continue the tradition of community service and youth leadership within the Northeast community. If you are interested in continuing this tradition please contact us. We are a 501 c4 and the foundation is a 501c 3 tax status.
