Desert Downs Opens to the Public
Desert Downs has endured many organizational changes in the BMX world and is currently sanctioned by USA BMX. Desert Downs has continuously coordinated a safe and well-maintained operation, adhering to the strict rules and regulations of USA BMX. In its hay-day, Desert Downs hosted several Super National races in the late 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. From 1980 through the 1990s, our BMX complex was rated one of the top five (out of approx. 285) ABA tracks in the US.

Starting Hill
With the welcome influx of new riders being introduced to the great world of BMX at Desert Downs, our equipment is receiving more wear and tear. Our starting gate is nearing its final days and we are eager to replace and upgrade the worn-out gate with the newest and safest gate on the market today.

Watch Tower Roof
The City of El Paso has generously agreed to provide the labor and some of the materials needed to rebuild the roofs of the water building, restrooms, and watch tower. Our volunteers have donated, and will continue to donate, thousands of man-hours and equipment to maintain and rework the track facilities.
